We're building a 120-metre suspension bridge that will bring Tairua and Pauanui closer together.

When the bridge and trail along the river's northern bank towards Tairua is complete, locals and visitors will be able to enjoy a 15-kilometre off road route between the two communities. 

Connecting with a regular Tairua-Pauanui ferry service in future, this new stretch will form part of a unique loop that will make this one of New Zealand's great one-day trail experiences, whether on foot or two wheels.

Resource consent was granted in late 2024, and we plan to build the bridge and new section of north bank trail over the next few years.
