Gary and Anne Fowler after winning Pauanui's Volunteer of the Year Award

Gary and Anne Fowler have taken out the top award at Pauanui Sports and Recreation Club's annual Volunteer Awards function

The couple took out the Community Award for their work with the Hikuai District Trust's Pauanui to Tairua Tral project.

Gary reluctantly accepted the award saying his wife, the Trust committee and the many volunteers  deserved the credit for the Trail.

"There has been so much combined effort given to make this project happen," he said

The Trail committee also received a Community Award
